Things will be a little different when you call 9-1-1 from now on in Midland.

According to NewsWest 9, Midland is getting a new Medical Priority Dispatch System which will allow dispatchers to get the information needed to help first responders.

Dispatchers used to ask just a few questions, but now they will be asking more, such as:

  1. What’s the address of the emergency?
  2. Where are you calling from?
  3. Name?
  4. What happened?

The last question will be the most important so first responders can do what they call "rapid interrogation" while on the way to the emergency.

Emergency response times will not be slowed down at all with the new system.
