Midland County Jail has been put on the non-compliance list of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards following its annual inspection.

According to NewsWest 9, the facility was put on "notice" following violations found in last year's inspection.

Sheriff Richard Gillette said fixing the problems has been a losing battle, "We fix a leak here and two more start somewhere else, so it's been a real challenge to keep up with the plumbing issues," said Sheriff Gillette.

County commissioners took action by going around a bidding process to get a contractor to fix the issues as soon as possible.

Midland County Sheriffs Office will have to pass the upcoming inspection in 2020 or else face sanctions from the TCJS.
