Midland City Officals Break Ground For New Midland Center

The first step on the way to a new Midland Center happened today as city officials broke ground for the new convention center.

According to NewsWest 9, city officials and Congressman Mike Conaway broke ground for the new Midland Center marking the beginning of construction on the $43 million convention center.

All funding for the building will come form the city's hotel/motel tax which is charged to anyone booking a room in the city of Midland.

The project is expected to take two years with a slated opening of the new convention center around July of 2019.
