Midland and Odessa See Drops in Crime Rate

Good news for the area: Crime rates for both Midland and Odessa have dropped in the past year.

According to NewsWest 9, comparing January to March of 2016 to the same time this year Odessa saw a 30% decrease in crime during that time.

Crimes in Odessa that went down the most were auto theft, arson, and overall theft, disturbingly though there was an increase in rape of 30% over that time.

In Midland, overall crime was down 33% with burglary being the crime that decreased the most followed by robbery and theft. Rape in Midland also increased by 25%.
