In the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas this past weekend, many people are wondering if our hospitals in the area are prepared if anything like that should happen here.

According to NewsWest 9, Medical Center Hospital in Odessa says they are ready and have a plan in place for treating a large number of injuries in West Texas.

Officials with MCH say about 150 trauma patients are treated there every month and they go through training for a massive influx of trauma patients several times per year.

MCH also has a regional plan to help massive casualties anywhere in the area and have coordinated with other hospitals for their staff to come in and help in the unfortunate event of a mass shooting in the Midland/Odessa and surrounding areas.
