Mass vaccination sites like the one at the Horseshoe Arena are figuring out ways to keep vaccines form going to waste when they get no show appointments by giving the vaccines to teachers.

According to NewsWest 9, the Midland Unified Command Team that is responsible for vaccinating people at the mass vaccination site at the Horseshoe Arena has seen a lot of no-shows, so they have decided to give the vaccine to teachers at MISD and Midland College.

Once the vaccination is thawed, it cannot be re-frozen so if doses are not used, they will go to waste.

To keep that from happening, they have called teachers at MISD and Midland College even though they are not in the qualifying phases right now.

So far the Unified Command Team has vaccinated about 350 teachers from MISD, but did not have numbers for Midland College available.

The Unified Command Team wants you to get the vaccine if you are in Phase 1A or 1B, but if you cannot make your appointment, they request that you please call in advance at 432-221-4VAX or email vaccine@midlandhealth.org.

Midland Health wants everyone to get the vaccine but if you make an appointment, they are going to thaw out the number of doses that they have appointments for, so make sure you show up or let them know if you can't make it.

You can also go to the Midland Health website to get registered and make sure you get an appointment scheduled.
