Valentine's Day is just around the corner so that means it is time to see the annual postmark for the Valentine, Texas post office for 2023.

A senior in high school in the Valentine Independent School District is the winner of the 2023 Valentine postmark design contest for the Valentine, Texas post office.

The drawing, presented by Jordan Miller and shown above, was inspired by her love of riding behind her father and uncle on family trail rides. The contest is open to all students in the Valentine Independent School District and this is the second time Jordan has won the contest.

She also won in 2019 and she has also won the Grand Champion Mare at the Big Bend Livestock Show so Jordan is no stranger to winning contests.

Beginning in early January of every year the Valentine Post Office receives thousands of cards to be stamped with the custom postmark that is developed each year.

Ismelda Ornelas is the Valentine Postmaster who hand-cancels every card herself.

“I look forward to seeing where all the valentines come from and where they are going. Knowing I play a role in sending someone a small token of love from another person, with a hand-stamp from Valentine, TX, is truly special,” said Ornelas.

It is not too late to get yours in if you get it sent in the next day or so. Just address your card and then put that card in another slightly bigger envelope, with appropriate postage of course, and send the envelope with your card or cards to:
