Kate McKinnon Will Voice Not One, but Three Characters in Animated Film ‘Leap!’
Kate McKinnon, arguably Saturday Night Live’s most beloved current cast member, is adding another voice acting gig to her repertoire. She’ll be voicing three characters for the upcoming animated film Leap!, the new French-Canadian-produced adventure hitting theaters this spring. The movie’s cast already includes Elle Fanning, Nat Wolff, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Mel Brooks.
Leap! (titled Ballerina across the pond, where it premiered in December), is the story of two orphans, Felicie and her best friend Victor, who leave their orphanage and travel to Paris — Felicie to follow her professional ballerina dreams, and Victor to become an inventor. But in order to attend the prestigious ballet school, Felicie has to pretend to be the daughter of a wealthy aristocratic family. Entertainment Weekly reports that among McKinnon’s roles is the part of Felicie’s “mother,” but we don’t know who the other two are.
McKinnon has been doing voice acting since 2010, appearing in everything from The Venture Bros. to The Simpsons to last year’s Finding Dory. She can next be seen in accidental-bachelorette-party-murder movie Rough Night with Scarlett Johanssen and Ilana Glazer.
Leap! hits theaters April 21.
