A jury summons scam is hitting the Permian Basin, more frequently in Midland, and officials are warning not to fall for it.

According to YourBasin.com, Midland County Sheriff Office is warning of a scam that has started circulating in the area.

The caller identifies himself as a deputy and threatens the arrest of the person called because of not appearing to court for a jury summons.

The caller also requests money from the victim.

Midland County officials say this is a scam and warns residents not to give out any personal information.

Anyone who has received a call of this nature is asked to report it to the Midland County Sheriff Office immediately at 432-688-4600.
