Texas has lots to brag about. We have one of the longest beaches in the world, everything truly is bigger in Texas, (sometimes, things are smaller too), and we're way more fun than New Mexico just to name a few.
You can actually visit cities from all over the world without ever leaving the lone star state, that's how cool we are. That brain rot thing though ... not cool.
The most "Brain Rotted" states in the USA have been named and, sadly, Texas ranked pretty high. We're not #1 but we're up there.
What Is Brain Rot?
A 2025 research paper published by the National Library of Medicine describes "brain rot" as being "characterized by brain fog and decreased concentration," noting it is exacerbated by excessive screen time and overexposure to low-value online content, ultimately diminishing cognitive function [2]. - usjuiceplus.com

Most Brain Rotted States In The USA
Juiceplus.com ranked the rotten and, for what it's worth, says that we're not alone in the rot category. According to them, "over 60% of U.S. states fall into the high or very high “brain rot” category".
How Did They Determine Brain Rot Levels?
The Brainrot Index ranks U.S. states by relative levels of digital “brain rot” intensity using a composite model built from multiple independent datasets. Indicators were grouped into four pillars: Exposure (40%), Content Risk (20%), Consequence Signals (25%), and Protective Factors (-15%). - usjuiceplus.com
Simply put, "brain rot" stems from watching too much crap on the internet. They graded those different criteria, added 'em up and Utah was numero uno with a perfect score of 100 out of 100. Texas damn near got 100 with a score of 97.69, putting us in 3rd place.

The least populated states, Alaska and Wyoming, (both places where, I'd imagine, peeps have the least stuff to do other than scroll all day) scored fairly low - 25 and 19.7.
Apparently, the internet service in Montana really, really sucks. They were the only state with a score of 0.
