Midland, Texas Concert Venue Combats Impared Driving
Midland, Texas -- The residents of Midland are a lot like many other residents in other cities around the world; we like our adult beverages. Going out and having a good time is a pastime that many people enjoy, especially after a long or difficult workweek.

Statistics
Ironicly, Midland is the 6th worst city in Texas that experiences 14.13 fatal drunk driving accidents per 100,000 residents. So, to say this is an ongoing issue in our area of the Permian Basin is an understatement.
Combating Drunk Driving
One Midland concert venue is being proactive in the fight against impaired driving. The Tailgate, which is widely known as one of the predominant outdoor concert venues in Midland, is teaming up with Uber and others to promote safe rides home.
For the remainder of the Tailgate Concert Season, The Tailgate is going to be offering a $15 discount for Uber rides home. This discount can only be taken advantage of by riders who depart from the Tailgate ticketed events.
Ginny Van Doren, who works at The Tailgate, informed me that The Tailgate has signage all around the venue that educates patrons of the partnership and notifies them of the discount to help ensure that they get some safely. As a part of the partnership, ticket holders will be emailed a unique QR code for each event before the show, and the QR code will also be shared on signage and social media.
Conclusion
I feel this initiative is a step in the right direction. It lets the community know that the venue is taking steps to ensure a fun night at the Tailgate does not end in potential tragedy.
