A Growing Gaming Community in Midland-Odessa

In 2023, Midland saw its first-ever large-scale gaming expo called the Texas Battle Bowl 3Sports and Gaming Expo.  The event held at Midland's Hourseshow Arena marked a significant milestone for local gamers. It signified that gaming was being taken more seriously in the region and that we were deserving of gaming-related events, similar to those found in larger cities.  The significance of this event was important and served as a good indication that future gaming-related events can find success in Midland-Odessa.

Local Options For Gamers

Luckily, there are a few places a budding gamer in the area can go to get their gaming fix.  These various entities range from gaming stores to classic and retro games, to even mobile gaming that residents of Midland-Odessa can rent out.

RetroFunk

This gaming store was founded by Raoul Mendez and Marco Ramos.  Located in Southern Midland, RetroFunk offers an escape into the world of retro games.  They offer a wide variety of classic systems, games, and even toys, to name a few.  They are also planning to give the community a local spot for local gamers to connect.  Such as hosting localized tournaments.

The Game Cave

The Game Cave is a unique gaming entity for the local area.  This is a large-sized mobile video game truck.  This allows the gaming experience to be brought to you!  Equipped with consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, this gaming truck is sure to be a hit at birthday parties.

The Future of Gaming in Midland-Odessa

While gaming in the area is somewhat new, it does provide some hope that more Gaming Expos and gaming-related stores, and events will come to our area.  However, if and when these events do come to our small portion of the Permian Basin, it is important to show support.  That is the best way for the local gaming community to thrive and expand.
