How The Bass Pro Shop Will Reshape Odessa’s Economy
If you've ever driven down Hwy 191 within the past year, then you should be well aware of the massive new Bass Pro Shop that is being built along the access road in Odessa.
While the store is located within Odessa's city limits, it is technically in Midland County. This demonstrates a symbol of the interdependence that the two cities share with one another.

What Bass Pro Shop Will Mean to Midland-Odessa
Bass Pro Shops are known for having an exuberant selection of outdoor gear. This can range from clothing, camping gear, outdoor accessories, and even firearms.
The original design designated the new location to be a 65,000-square-foot building. However, early on, that design was updated into a massive 100,000-square-foot facility, making it the largest retail store in the region.
Not only will this provide hundreds of jobs, but this will also have a positive economic impact as well.
Within five years, the area around the store is predicted to expand with new restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses, transforming the look and feel of the 191 access road in which the new Bass Pro Shops will be located.

When WIll the New Bass Pro Shops Open?
Initially, the Bass Pro Shop had a Spring 2025 opening date; however, that time has already elapsed. Realistically, the store will not open until Q1 of 2026.
If the new Costco that opened up a few weeks ago is any indication, the grand opening of Bass Pro Shop should be exceedingly successful.
