Retail space, just like most land in Texas, is very plentiful and an interesting business because those who own it will tell you the importance of location, location, location, and yet any reasonable person would question if the location is so wonderful, why is the space vacant, and has been for such a long time?

The overall shopping experience evolution has gone into warp drive since the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak, and many brick and mortar businesses have just never recovered.

Online retail is also evolving as more and more sellers are adopting subscription based enterprise to offset some of the hard costs associated with shipping and restocking items.

Most of the major Texas metros over the years had Sears. One location in Houston was open almost 80 years until it closed in 2018, and the final Houston area Sears closed in 2021.

The only Sears still in operation in Texas is within the Cielo Vista Mall, and may not be with us much longer. It is one of 13 still operating in the United States and Puerto Rico with another due to close this spring.

From once having over 4,000 locations around the world as recently as 2011, to now only a dozen in North America is quite the fall in only 13 years.

The website continues to operate for online orders, and no matter what they charge for shipping, it is likely far cheaper than all the fuel that you would use having it sent to the store.
