The Texas Senate race comes to Baylor University.

Baylor University to Host Senate Candidate James Talarico for Campus Event

Baylor University will host Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico next month. Talarico is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Mark and Paula Hurd Center.

Bipartisan Outreach at Baylor

According to the Baylor Lariat, the upcoming visit follows an outreach effort by university administrators, who extended formal invitations to both Talarico and his Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. According to school officials, the university-initiated contact with both campaigns as part of Baylor's ongoing initiative to encourage open dialogue and civic engagement on campus.

State Attorney General Ken Paxton Cannot Attend the Event

To accommodate campaign schedules, Baylor offered both candidates six prospective appearance dates at the Hurd Center throughout September. Talarico’s campaign selected Sept. 16, while Paxton’s team stated that his existing schedule could not accommodate the provided options due to prior commitments. The announcement follows an appearance by Paxton at Baylor in April during a Turning Point USA event.

Neutrality Policies At Baylor

University officials emphasized that Baylor’s involvement is strictly neutral. The university says it is not sponsoring, organizing, or endorsing the event; its role is limited to facility rental under standard external venue guidelines. Talarico’s campaign will handle all operational details, manage event security, and cover the rental costs for the venue. Baylor will assist in distributing electronic ticketing and login information to campus community members interested in attending.

[PICS] See Baylor Scott & White in Temple, TX Growing Through the Years

Baylor Scott and White, much like Central Texas, has grown throughout the years. It's hard to imagine that a structure that's dominated the Bell County skyline for decades now started out as a tiny frontier cabin. Let's take a trip through time for a quick visual history of Scott & White Temple. (Special thanks to Jeff Swindoll with Baylor Scott & White for his invaluable assistance.)
