Everybody needs to be wearing a seatbelt when they're in a vehicle. Especially in the state of Texas, where we've all seen a bad driver once or twice. So remembering to buckle up is very important.

But not everybody does it, which isn't the smartest idea. It's not a good idea to be unbuckled if there's potential for one to get into an accident. To combat people not using their seat belt, vehicles have alarms that sound when someone isn't safely set for a trip.

That alert hasn't applied to those in backseat for some cars however. But in the year of 2027, that will not be only changing for Texas, but for the nation as whole.

What Changes Will Becoming To Texas Vehicles For Passengers In The Back Seat?

According to KWTX, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has introduced a new requirement for those riding in the backseat of these passenger vehicles:

- buses (excluding schools buses)
- cars
- multi-purpose vehicles with a weight under 10,000 pounds
- trucks

As reported by KWTX, data collected from 2022 showed that 92% of passengers in the front of a vehicle used their seat belts, It dropped by 10% for rear seated passengers, sitting at 82%. In addition to that data, the NHTSA revealed that nearly half of the passengers that involved in a car accident, lose their life due to the fact they weren't buckled in.
