March is one of those months in Texas where at times it can feel like spring. At other times it can feel like winter. And as the month goes on, there are days where March in Texas can feel like summer.

Over the weekend we saw temperatures in the panhandle below freezing and snow falling while on the same day, it was over 100 degrees in south Texas. That's a crazy temperature swing through the state, but it's not uncommon for Texas.

Coldest Temperature on Record in Texas During March

Texas has seen its fair share of below freezing temperatures in March as you would expect. Especially during the early parts of the month. The coldest temperature recorded in Texas during the month of March was -6 degrees in Dalhart back in 1960. Amarillo got close one year in March of 1948 when it got down to -3.

Hottest Temperature on Record in Texas During March

This record probably won't surprise many of you out there as Texas does indeed warm up by the end of March. The record for the hottest day during the month of March is shared by may Texas cities according to the Austin American-Statesman. 100 degrees has been felt by a few Texas cities.

The Austin American-Statesman also reported that Lubbock, Texas is the home for the most "dramatic" temperature swing during the month of March. Back in 1922, Lubbock went from -2 degrees on March 2 to 83 degrees on March 23. That's an 85 degree swing from the beginning of the month to close to the end.
