Just in time for the holiday shopping season to really heat up, Amazon is now launching drone delivery for select cities including some new areas in Texas. This doesn't mean everything that Amazon sells will be able to be delivered via drone, but a lot of products will be, for select Texans and at a price.

Amazon Begins Drove Delivery in Dallas-Fort Worth

According to the Dallas Morning News, Amazon has launched it's drone delivery service in Richardson, joining other Texas cities like Waco and San Antonio as cities that have Amazon's drove service. Customers can order thousands of objects and get them within an hour. The delivery service does cost $4.99 though according to the Dallas Morning News.

The service, operating from facilities adjacent to a fulfillment center, delivers packages weighing up to 5 pounds within a roughly 7- to 8-mile radius of the facility. Members of Amazon Prime can receive deliveries for $4.99.

More Drone Action In The Future

Expect to see more drone technology delivering items to homes all over in the coming years. More infrastructure will have to be built, but I could see places like Lubbock getting drone service from at least one service in the next few years.
