Should the Monday After the Super Bowl Be a Texas State Holiday?

A new survey says 55% of Americans want the Monday after the Super Bowl to be a national holiday. And honestly, here in Texas, we might need it more than anyone. We go big on everything, and that includes football. Whether you're in Lubbock, Dallas, Houston, or down in the Hill Country, Super Bowl Sunday is an all-day event—smoked brisket, queso, and enough Dr Pepper (or something a little stronger) to fuel the whole crowd!

By the time the fourth quarter rolls around, half of us are either celebrating like we just won the lottery or cursing the ref who ruined our bet with Sandra in accounting. And let’s be honest—most of us aren’t bouncing out of bed Monday morning ready to tackle spreadsheets. Studies prove we’re FAR less productive the next day.

The idea of making 'Super Bowl Monday' a federal holiday sounds great, but let’s be real—the folks in Washington probably aren't going to help us out. So what are the alternatives? The NFL could move the game to Saturday, giving us a full day to recover. Or, even better, push it back a week so it lands on Presidents' Day weekend.

Either way, Texans aren’t slowing down for anything—except maybe a Whataburger breakfast on Monday morning to soak up the booze.
