Beloved Texas Grocery Chain Finally Arrives in Cowtown

In an event that has enthused residents across north central Texas, the beloved grocery store chain HEB has officially opened its first store in Fort Worth (aka Cowtown).

The Texas company's new edifice is located on Heritage Trace Parkway in northern Tarrant County. The HEB Alliance store sits just off I-35W, a midpoint between two other regional icons, Texas Motor Speedway and Billy Bob's Texas.

From its fresh produce to its curbside services to its mascot named H-E-Buddy, HEB has become a household name across the state. The Fort Worth store promises to deliver all the same amenities for which it's been known to Texans in a fast-growing part of the Lone Star State.

The Alliance store has distinctive features such as a True Texas BBQ restaurant with drive-thru; full-service H-E-B Pharmacy with a drive-thru; and Texas Backyard department with a selection of outdoor essentials. - HEB

The company is well-known for its donations to charitable causes. In celebration of the opening of its Fort Worth store, HEB made sizeable contributions to both CASA of Tarrant County and the Humane Society of North Texas.

HEB was established in 1905 by Florence Butt in Kerrville, Texas. In 1919, Florence's youngest son - Howard Edward Butt - stepped into an ownership position with his mother's store after his return home from World War I. Howard's initials soon became the name of the company.

Other North Texas HEB stores are located in Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Allen, Corsicana, Hudson Oaks, Burleson, Ennis, Waxahachie, Cleburne, and Granbury. Another store is expected to open in Mansfield - also in Tarrant County - later this year.

H-E-B is the largest private employer in Texas, based out of San Antonio. The company has more than 380 stores throughout Texas and Mexico.
