One homeowner in Midland is dealing with a huge beehive in one of the trees on his lot.

According to NewsWest 9, the beehive has thousands of European honey bees making it the largest natural hive in all of West Texas.

Several beekeepers have been trying to relocate the huge hive but because of its size and the location on the tree it has been a challenge to say the least.

This weekend a beekeeper will take on the large task and box the branch with the hive, cut it, and slowly pulley the box of bees out of the tree.

“He’s wanting to take them back and farm it," homeowner Garrett Nichols said. "Hopefully I can get a jar of honey soon in a few months.”

If that beekeeper cannot successfully get the hive down, Nichols says he is going to continue to do what he can to relocate the hive safely.
