The iconic Midland miniature golf course has its re-opening date.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Green Acres will open to the public on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

In the beginning they will be taking reservations to avoid the usual long lines that would make people wait for hours, a practice well known when anything new or renewed opens up in the Permian Basin.

Beginning today people can go to the Green Acres website to make a reservation.

The next few weeks will be for getting the final touches put on the course and clubhouse/entertainment center.

Machines are being tested and technology is being installed and the arcade will have classic 80's style games like Pac-Man, along with old-school pinball machines too.

Green Acres is about a mile east of Fairgrounds Rd. on Business 20/Old Hwy 80 in Midland.

Jeff Beard, one of the developers on the project, says there are still "a million things to do" before the re-opening.

“But you know, we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Beard. “We had a million questions when we started this project. And now we’re only down to a couple thousand questions. So, we’ve narrowed it down, but there’s still a lot of work to be done during the next month.”

Beard said the re-opening is going to be a big deal to life long Midlanders (like me).

“We knew that the community was going to be behind this project and be excited about the project,” said Beard. “We didn’t know it would be as much as it has been. You know, there’s this pressure to make sure it’s done right. Because really and rightfully so, there’s a lot of people that feel like they own this place.”

A round of golf will be $12 for adults and $8 for children under 12. An arcade admission will be a $15 flat fee with no need for quarters or a game card. They will be open from 11am-9pm daily.
