Gotham’s approach to Batman continuity has been head-scratching, to say the least, but perhaps none more-so than suggestions Harley Quinn might make an early appearance, absent any official Joker. Well, according to star David Mazouz, there’s no two ways about the fan-favorite making some debut in the two-part Season 3 finale.

Where previously executive producer John Stephens suggested “We might see [Harley Quinn] in Episode 22” as a “launching point” for Season 4, series lead David Mazouz reportedly confirmed as much in conversation with MoviePilot. In no uncertain terms, the young Bruce Wayne stated:

She’s going to be in the finale. Stay tuned.

Granted, there’s a few notions to unpack here. For one, Stephens said in an earlier interview that the “Joker Cult” around Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome would play a larger part in Season 4, so Mazouz may be pointing toward a Harley-esque figure who strikes that note in the finale. Another possibility is the long-discussed similarity between Harley Quinn and Erin Richards’ Barbara, which could reach some culmination in Monday’s two-part finale.

Said closer will also feature Alexander Siddig’s introduction as Ra’s al Ghul, though the synopsis doesn’t necessarily lean toward, or away from a Harley figure:

DESTINY AWAITS ON THE ALL-NEW, SPECIAL TWO-HOUR SEASON FINALE OF “GOTHAM” MONDAY JUNE 5, ON FOX

With the deadly virus spreading throughout the city, the search for the antidote continues, as Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), The Riddler and Penguin reveal plans of their own. Bruce meets Ra’s Al Ghul (guest star Alexander Siddig) and completes his last task in order to fulfill his destiny, but realizes he can’t let go of his past. Meanwhile, Gordon tries to win back Lee, and past alliances within Gotham City are broken, while new alliances are formed in the all-new, special two-hour “Heroes Rise: Destiny Calling/ Heroes Rise: Heavydirtysoul” season finale episode of GOTHAM.

We’ll see what Gotham debut Mazouz is really alluding toward on Monday, but could Season 4 benefit from some kind of Harley Quinn? Check out the trailer below.
