Cedric Benson's funeral has been set after his untimely death this past weekend.

According to NewsWest 9, former Midland Lee, University of Texas, and NFL player Cedric Benson will be laid to rest in Austin this Saturday.

Benson's public funeral services will be held at 11am at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday August 24, 2019.

There will be a separate service with visiting hours on Friday at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home.

A private interment will be held at Texas State Cemetery.

Cedric Benson still holds a bunch of rushing records for Midland Lee High School as well as being a state champion for all three years he attended Midland Lee.

After graduating in 2000, he played his college football for the University of Texas Longhorns where he received the Doak Walker Award for the top running back in 2004.

He was drafted fourth overall in 2005 by the Chicago Bears, traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008, and then traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2012.
