The annual 4th of July celebration "Firecracker Fandango" will be canceled for 2020 because of concerns with COVID-19.

According to NewsWest 9, this would have been the 25th anniversary of the event but with COVID-19 concerns, the city of Odessa has decided to cancel it for this year.

"This was not an easy decision at which to arrive, however the safety and well-being of our guests, citizens, and vendors are our top priority," says Devin Sanchez, Director of Communications for the City of Odessa.

Both the City of Odessa and Downtown Odessa say they are looking forward to the event returning in 2021 along with any other events to celebrate the revitalization of downtown Odessa.
