Elizabeth Smart was in Midland last night talking about her past experience and how she has used that to become a child safety advocate.

According to NewsWest 9, Smart talked about how she knew the basic safety things that everyone learns like stop, drop, and roll if you are on fire, look both ways before crossing the street, and don't take candy from strangers, but she still ended up getting abducted.

She talked about not being mad at her captors and that its OK for parents to be a little over protective.

Smart is currently on a lecture tour through the end of the year.
