Yesterday Ed Sheeran shared a photo of his new ink with followers on instagram, a giant lion on his chest.

While some followers were confused about the symbolism and thought that Ed was making a political statement about Cecil the Lion, the real reason is much more personal.

Ed Sheeran has loads of tattoos. He's practically got sleeves, actually he does, whether I like it or not my ginger darling is coated in colorful ink. So, it did not surprise me to hear that he was getting a chest size tattoo.

The reason behind the lion is more significant. "All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white, saying a clever phrase in a language I can't speak, no one would've said anything," Ed tweeted.  "It's not the first weird tattoo I've got and it won't be the last, but I like all of them."

Whether Ed knows it or not he just strengthened my belief in the Ed Sheeran - Harry Potter connection that began with casting Rupert Grint in the 'Lego House' video.

Remember this quote from Book 6, 'Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince?'

“You'd think people had better things to gossip about," said Ginny as she sat on the common room floor, leaning against Harry’s legs and reading the Daily Prophet. "Three Dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it’s true you’ve got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest."
Ron and Hermione both roared with laughter. Harry ignored them.
What did you tell her?"
I told her it's a Hungarian Horntail," said Ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. "Much more macho."
Thanks," said Harry, grinning. "And what did you tell her Ron’s got?"
A Pygmy Puff, but I didn’t say where.”
