Starting July 27, 2017, a new ordinance will go into effect to help change the look of downtown Odessa.

According to YourBasin.com, the ordinance is being put in place to help revitalize downtown Odessa.

With old buildings coming down and new buildings soon going up, the city of Odessa is looking to make downtown have a better overall look.

The ordinance is called the Downtown Overlay Zone and it has a list of new styles to help revitalize the downtown area with aesthetics such as the look of future or existing buildings as well as the look of the signs for those businesses.

The city will provide grants and assistance to existing downtown structures to get them up to the new standard and will eventually put in place a $2000 fine for any places that are not up to the new codes.
