Donald Glover's father, Donald Glover Sr., has died.

The musician broke the news to fans during a recent performance at the Forum in Los Angeles, Entertainment Tonight reported. He opened up to fans about his loss, revealing that he planned to play some of his new songs for his father prior to his passing. The 35-year-old then shared an important message about "trust" and "love."

"I lost my father a couple weeks ago," Glover said in a video captured by a fan, shared on Reddit. "And I wanted to play him some of the new songs. But he didn't want to hear them because he was like, 'I know they'll be great.'"

The "This is America" singer continued, "I'm not saying that to talk about music. I say that to talk about trust."

"That's what love is," Glover said. "I hope you guys get to feel that kind of love and trust in your life. There's nothing like it. So, this song is for you, and this song is for him."

He then performer his song, "Riot," for the audience.

This isn't the first Glover's shared of his father's death, but it is the first time he implicitly revealed that it was his father who died. During a performance on Sunday, Glover alluded to his dad's passing, telling fans in attendance, "I lost a lot of good people," according to Variety.

"I know it's been a tough year for everybody, that's what's crazy. I wish I could change everything for everybody," Glover said.

Glover's father was beloved by many. He often gushed about his son's accomplishments on Twitter, using the handle @DonaldsDad. In September he retweeted a fan's praise of his son, writing, "He's been amazing forever, all the kids. I'm the non amazing one of the family."
