The 2018 March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C. included moving testimony by survivors of mass shootings, spellbinding performances that dispensed hope to crowds and the reunion of two of pop's biggest stars, who put aside previous differences to come together for change and sensible gun-control laws.

Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, both reared by Disney Channel (Sonny With a Chance and Hannah Montana, respectively), spent their early careers attached at the hip, and hugged and laughed at events like the 2008 Teen Choice Awards and the 2009 premiere of the Hannah Montana movie. But thanks to some back-and-forth YouTube spats, their connection faded, and they spent years apart. With the exception of one run-in at the 2017 Women's March — in which Cyrus seemed to desperately try to leave to find a bathroom after giving Lovato a cursory greeting — the two have spent ensuing years as relative strangers.

But fans of both were thrilled to see that Cyrus and Lovato, who both performed at the rally, put aside their differences in the name of change and progress. Check out a collection of photos of Demi and Miley through the years above.
