Daylight Saving Time: Economic Booster Or Sleep Disruptor?
It's almost that time, Daylight savings time! It will begin Sunday March the 10th this year with clocks springing forward one hour at 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Daylight savings time stays in effect until Sunday, November 3rd at 2 a.m., that's when clocks will again fall back one hour and daylight savings time officially ends.
My question why??? I'm sorry but life has enough confusion besides changing your clocks forward or backwards twice a year! They say that the reasoning behind daylight savings time is to allow us more natural daylight. Back in the day before electricity folks needed the extra daylight and back during World War I it helped conserve fuel, but do we still need it?
Many professionals also believe the practice of moving clocks up one hour helps stimulate the economy because of the "Longer" days. Regardless of the reasoning many people, including me want to do away with the practice. Opponents of
Daylight savings time says it poses a serious health risk by disrupting and shortening sleep patterns with extended daylight.
Currently no official rulings have been made in the fight for one time schedule. So we will all be springing forward Sunday March 10th. Good news, with modern technology most of your computers, cell phones, car clocks and more, automatically change the clock for us so we don't have to worry about resetting everything. You may still need to reset a few household items like microwaves and manual clocks.
Just remember to adjust your bedtime and have the coffee ready when you do get up.
