God Bless Texas – Some Crazy Things We Can Legally Own In Texas
I love Texas, always have, and it's partly because of cool things like this that absolutely set Texas apart.
Texas has always had a very special, shall we say, attitude. There's a strong sense of independence, along with a fierce, "common sense" approach to things and a great, "don't tell me what to do and I won't tell you what to do either" vibe.
We certainly march to our own drum around here, a fact that is shown so clearly by the following things that are perfectly legal to own in the lone star state.
- Tanks. Yes, tanks ... bought and sold daily. Well, frequently anyway, I don't know about daily. That would put a lot of tanks on the road. Maybe though ... after all, this is Texas.
- Tigers. There are a few requirements but, yeah, totally ok to own a tiger or two. (There used to be a few on display at a gas station way east of El Paso on I-10.) Bears, chimps and Bobcats, among other things, are cool too.
- Flamethrowers. Because, you never know when you're going to need to set something 50 feet or so away on fire. Things happen so, it's good that there is no prohibition against keeping a few flamethrowers around.
Even Nikki Sixx has one.
It turns out, as a matter of fact, that with the exception of California ... party poopers ... every state in the union allows for the ownership of flamethrowers.
We can't, however, buy cars or booze on Sunday. Texas is complicated.
