Odessa Police Department sent out a press release about counterfeit bills circulating around the Odessa area.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, OPD along with the Secret Service are investigating more than 50 cases involving counterfeit $100 and $50 bills with Chinese lettering.

OPD urges all businesses in the Permian Basin to check all bills. Counterfeit bills are usually smaller and thinner than actual legal currency.

Real bills should have a presidential watermark that is easily visible when held up to a light.

For more information call OPD at 432-335-4961.
