Chrissy Teigen has opened up about how it felt to first receive the news regarding her good friend Kim Kardashian's harrowing Paris robbery, and how the reality star is holding up now.

"I was really scared," Teigen said in an interview with Us Weekly. "I knew something was really wrong when that video of [Kanye West] running off stage [at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival] came about...He's not the type to do that. I remember my heart sank, and to hear the full story, it was really scary. It could have happened to anybody."

Teigen continued, saying, "Hearing the details and knowing she has babies at home and that she's so sweet, open and honest, you don't think that kind of thing could happen."

The supermodel went on to discuss the parallels between her life and Kim's, noting they both share a fair amount of their daily lives with their fans through social media.

"We both live our lives like an open book," Teigen said. "That's why her fans love her. They love seeing the ins and outs of her life, their home, their relationship. We share all of that and don't think that someone dangerous could see that and do something violent with that information. I share the inside of my home every day — so many parts of our lives we share."

Thankfully, Teigen continued, Kim was physically unharmed: "But she's OK. Kim is OK and it could have been so much more horrific, so we're happy that she's OK."

Teigen tweeted about the robbery when it first happened, writing in response to those without compassion who made light of the terrifying situation.

"Some sh—t just isn’t funny," she tweeted. "I see you trying, but it isn’t. Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets."

Teigen -- who has since made her Twitter private -- also told Vanity Fair she's been in touch with Kim since the incident.

"We’ve been texting,” she told the publication. “She’s doing great now. It was definitely a traumatizing, horrible, horrible thing. Honestly I couldn’t even imagine it happening to me. I don’t even know how I would have reacted. I don’t think anyone would know how they would have reacted to a situation like that."

Teigen continued, noting Kim's terrifying ordeal has changed her own approach to social media.

"It’s definitely terrifying," she said. "And we’re all looking at social [media] now, like, ‘Crap, maybe we got to chill out a bit.’”

Kim, meanwhile, has no plans to return to social media any time soon. Her assistant, Stephanie Shepard, confirmed the reality star is taking some “much needed time off” from her accounts following the robbery.
