Tattoos seem to be growing in popularity, so can these permanent pieces of body art hinder your chances of landing work? It's an interesting question.

One study estimates 20% of all American adults have a tattoo and 40% under the age of are sporting them. Despite evidence they are so prevalent, employers may be leery about hiring those with ink. One CareerBuilder survey revealed that 31% of employers say visible tattoos are the number one reason not to go with an applicant.

Why the hate? Lots of people feel tattoos symbolize "risk-taking behaviors."
