Busy Philipps Opens Up About Alleged James Franco Assault on ‘Freaks and Geeks’ Set
Busy Philipps is gearing up to release her tell-all memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, later this month, and the book will detail some of the 39-year-old actress' most traumatic experience.
One such incident involves James Franco, her Freaks and Geeks co-star. In an excerpt obtained by Yahoo! Entertainment, Philipps details filming a particular scene where her character is directed to lightly hit Franco during their conversation. The actor apparently didn't know the hit was part of the scene, and according to Philipps he snapped after a take.
“He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, ‘DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!’” she alleges in her book. “And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me.”
She goes on to explain that despite encouragement from co-star Linda Cardellini, she didn't report the incident to her manager. Franco did apologize the next day, though Philipps claims he was forced by the producers and director. She says he was never punished for his behavior.
This isn't the first person to allege Franco of assault. Earlier this year, a number of women accused the actor of sexual misconduct. Franco has denied all allegations.
Philipps also opens up about being raped at the age of 14 in her new book, which she revealed via Instagram amidst the recent Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford hearing.
"This is me at 14. The age I was raped," she captioned an old school photo. " It's taken me 25 years to say those words. I wrote about it in my book. I finally told my parents and sister about it 4 months ago. Today is the day we are silent no more. All of us. I'm scared to post this. I can't imagine what Dr. Ford is feeling right now."

This Will Only Hurt a Little is set to come out on October 16.
