These days, it's considered a major feat to maintain online interest for more than a few months, but while Kim Kardashian may be the most searched person of 2012, it's pop princess Britney Spears who has been dominating the Internet for the past 12 years.

For the second year in a row, Kim K topped Yahoo!'s annual list of top searches, but while the reality show star has been at No. 1 in 2011 and 2012, Spears has been making the list for seven of the last 12 years, reports the Huffington Post.

To put that in perspective, the Yahoo.com domain was created in 1995, and Google was founded in 1998. Spears' debut album, '... Baby One More Time,' was released in 1999. So, basically people have been searching for Spears since she came onto the music scene. Talk about a career artist!

Of course, many newsworthy moments in Brit's life have kept her in high demand. She released six more albums, had baby-daddy drama with Kevin Federline, a very public breakdown and an 'X Factor' comeback, all of which have contributed to the star's place in pop culture.

Kardashian has been making plenty of headlines lately, especially with Kanye West by her side, but she's not the only celeb to make Yahoo!'s list. Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Middleton and Kate Upton were also highly searched in 2012.
