Ariana Grande broke down in tears onstage during her concert in Mac Miller's hometown last night.

The pop star's Sweetener World Tour, which you can get tickets to here, was in Pittsburgh, the city the late rapper was born and raised, on Wednesday night (June 12), and according to fans in attendance, she cried several times as she subtly paid tribute to her ex-boyfriend, who passed away last year at the age of 26 due to an accidental overdose.

Before Grande even took the stage, fans noted Miller's album was playing in the stadium and that an empty seat had been reserved for him, but then, during her opening number "Raindrops (An Angel Cried)," which is a track believed to be about the end of their relationship, she was noticeably emotional and unable to finish the song.

The 25-year-old singer choked up again towards the end of the concert when it came time to sing the lines, "Wish I could say, 'Thank you' to Malcolm/ 'Cause he was an angel" on "thank u, next." Her loyal fans quickly realized she needed their support so they sang the lyrics and cheered her on.

Ariana Grande has paid tribute to Miller several times over the last year, including her first heartfelt message following his death in September. Alongside a sweet video of Miller, she wrote about how she'll always "adore" him.

"I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will," she wrote on Instagram. "I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do. You were my dearest friend. For so long."

"Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest," Grande added.
