It has been a dry spell for us who grew up in the era of Roger Staubach and then later in the era of Troy Aikman.

Eight Super Bowl appearances, 5 Championships, Back to Back championships, 3 championships in 4 years all of that stuff that made us proud Cowboys fans.

If you are around my age, you can remember the good times: the "Hail Mary" when Dallas came back and beat Minnesota in the NFC Divisional game in 1975, beating Denver in Super Bowl XII in 1978, and the resurgence of Dallas in the early 90's when the triplets (Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin) were winning 3 championships in 4 years.

But since 1996 it has been a struggle for Cowboys fans, from Quincy Carter, Ryan Leaf, Anthony Wright, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testaverde, and Drew Bledsoe to the hope of a championship under Tony Romo which never transpired.

Tony Romo is still the best QB that never won a championship but Dallas Cowboys fans want another championship or two or three. We have seen Pittsburgh win 6 Super Bowls, and New England also win 6 Super Bowls while we still sit tied for second place with San Francisco at 5 championships.

We have hope for this year even though we have lost 3 of our last 4 games and we have a talented team led by the QB that can take us to another championship in Dak Prescott, but this just isn't feeling like this is the year.

I hope I am wrong and the Cowboys just go crazy and win out this year and win all the way to the Super Bowl, but after losing to the two teams that were in the Super Bowl last year (Tampa Bay and Kansas City) plus losing to Denver and Las Vegas, it is not looking good.

But the season is not over yet and with 4 of our last 6 games being in our own division, there is hope for a playoff run.

Hold out hope my fellow Cowboys fans, maybe this can turn around and we will see this evening as we head to New Orleans to take on the Saints tonight.
