8 Things You Need in the Holiday Spirit of St. Patrick’s Day
We are getting close to St. Patrick's Day, which falls on Friday March 17, and that means the whole weekend will have many Lubbock residents seeing green. St. Patrick's festivities originated as a festival a couple hundred years ago with many different traditions such as parades, feasts, and even wearing green clothing.
In modern times we will overload ourselves on green during St. Patrick's Day with some cities taking the tradition seriously by dying whole rivers green. Which might, or might not, be a good idea for Lubbock to attempt with our playa lakes. Along with changing the color of water to look like an algae bloom green foods seem to be a big gimmick during this time. Green foods, such as donuts, also tend to make people a bit apprehensive because of what the dye tends to do to people later.
There are some must haves when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick's Day that just capture the spirit of the holiday as we celebrate it now. Some people will wear full leprechaun outfits to show their spirit of the holiday or if you are a horror movie buff then you will settle for the scary movies involving the leprechaun. You could also be a bit annoying and carry around pockets filled with fake gold coins and gift them to people, fun but unnecessary.
This compilation of must have items you need in order to have great St. Patrick's Day weekend was a group effort. Most of these items can be purchased at any Dollar Store, Party Store, or regular big chain retailer. So don't forget to wear green on March 17, and all weekend long, also pinch those that did forget to wear green.
