Vampires are coming back to FX, and not the Guillermo del Toro kind. Instead, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and frequent partner Jemaine Clement are bringing their new version of What We Do in the Shadows to TV, landing an official pilot order on FX.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, original writer-director-stars Waititi and Clement have landed an FX pilot order for the U.S. remake, and will executive produce a new cast comprised of Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen. The 2014 version featured both Waititi and Clement as vampires in a New Zealand mockumentary, though it isn’t clear if the pair will appear onscreen (Clement also appears in FX’s Legion).

In addition to Clement writing and Waititi directing, the pair will executive produce the new half-hour comedy version with The Night Of alum Scott Rudin, Flight of the Conchords’ Paul Simms and Scott Rudin Productions’ Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. Previously, Waititi was said to be developing a What We Do in the Shadows spinoff around police characters Karen and Mike, though this new FX version appears to be a straight reboot of the original concept.

It’s tough to imagine FX passing on a pilot from Clement and Waititi, but watch the original trailer below and stay tuned for the latest on our new What We Do in the Shadows.
