There are obvious dangers to storm chasing, but internet videos, movies and TV shows glamorize the dangerous pursuit to the point that some thrill-seekers hit the road looking for the super-cells. Last year, several professional storm chasers were hospitalized after they got too close and their vehicle tosses by a tornado. Members of another group were killed in their chase.

News reports put the number of dead from the storms at 18 persons.
