Water Wonderland – An Aerial View of the Abandoned Water Park

Water Wonderland opened in 1980 and for more than 20 years was the spot for every kid to go to for summer fun in the Odessa/Midland and surrounding area.

A name change to Hero's Waterworld around 1997 could not help the water park, especially since a dried up water supply and too much cost for upkeep eventually led to the closing of the park 6 years later.

Below is a drone's view of the abandoned water park taken about a year ago showing almost 15 years of vandalism and decay of what was once a "water wonderland" for kids of all ages, including this kid.
