You won’t be triggering Global Thermonuclear War anytime soon, but there are new WarGames to play. The 1983 Matthew Broderick classic gets re-imagined as a new interactive series from MGM and Her Story creator Sam Barlow, and the first trailer is ready to play a game.

Interactive media group Eko revealed a first teaser for the new interactive 2018 WarGames, which re-imagines the concept along the lines of hacking and data breaches. According to Variety, the viewer decides the fate of key characters and plot points, while the story itself follows “a group of young hackers who get involved in a web of modern espionage and government conspiracy. Viewers direct the story of the lead character, hacker protagonist Kelly, who ‘represents the breadth of modern hacker culture and its humanity.’”

The series is created by British video game director and Her Story creator Sam Barlow. Eko announced the project two years ago with MGM, but has not set a more specific premiere window than 2018, nor revealed how exactly viewers will watch or interact with its new WarGames. The series notably joins a growing wave of interactive TV projects, including the recent HBO Mosaic executive produced by Steven Soderbergh.
