True Detective is about to get a serious upgrade to its Justice department. Cyborg himself, Ray Fisher, has joined the Season 3 cast in a regular role alongside a number of other familiar faces.

According to Deadline, the Justice League star will take the role of Freddy Burns, son to Mahershala Ali’s Wayne. Seeing as the third season takes place against the backdrop of “a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods,” we wouldn’t be surprised if Fisher only plays the role in one or two. Additionally, The Purge star Rhys Wakefield has landed a recurring role alongside Fear The Walking Dead alum Michael Greyeyes and The Closer star Jon Tenney.

Elsewhere of True Detective Season 3, Moonlight Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali will play Northwest Arkansas state police detective Wayne Hays, alongside Stephen Dorff as his partner, The Girlfriend Experience star Carmen Ejogo as a schoolteacher connected to two missing children, and recurring roles for Scoot McNairy and Mamie Gummer. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will serve as Season 3’s primary writer, aided by Deadwood boss David Milch, who directs the fourth episode. Pizzolatto will also showrun and direct with Jeremy Saulnier, while executive producers include Scott Stephens, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey and original director Cary Fukunaga.

True Detective Season 3 is likely to premiere in 2019, leaving it unclear if Fisher’s commitment to any upcoming DCEU movies will affect his scheduling. Stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
