Wouldn’t you know it – there’s more to Maura Pfefferman’s journey after Season 4. Weeks ahead of its next premiere, Amazon has confirmed a fifth season for its award-winning Transparent, with further episodes due out in 2018.

Amazon confirmed early Thursday that the fifth season would begin production and air in 2018 at an undetermined point, returning stars Jeffrey Tambor, Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker, with Andrea Sperling continuing as executive producer alongside Jill Soloway. The new season will premiere on September 22, while Soloway said of the renewal:

We are extremely grateful to Amazon Studios for their continued trust and support and to our audience for their warm embrace of the Pfeffermans. We look forward to another season of comedy and drama, love and weirdness, God and sex – in the service of community and in pursuit of peace, joy, freedom and human rights for all.

Added Amazon:

Over the past few seasons the Pfeffermans have gone across the world, back in time and made many, many trips to the deli. We’re so excited to see what magic Jill and the incredible team bring to this always groundbreaking series in season five.
