'The Purge 2' is due out in June next year, so it's going to have to work quickly to make that release date. The film has just started casting, and Frank Grillo has signed on to play the lead.

This news comes from Deadline who note that the storyline for the sequel -- which will be written and directed by the first film's helmer James DeMonaco -- is under wraps. The plot of 'The Purge' found a family under siege in its dystopian future where one day a year all crime is legal, so it stands to reason the new film will take place on the same day, but casting hasn't revealed if any of the previous cast members will return or if this will take place with a new group of characters fighting to stay alive against roving bands of murderers.

Grillo may not be a household name yet, but he's been building a solid resume. He was recently seen in 'Homefront,' and had a spotlight role in 2011's 'The Grey,' but 2014 should be a big year for him as not only will he be leading this film, but he'll be playing Crossbones in April's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' 'The Purge 2' is scheduled to hit theaters June 20, 2014.
