Looks like her hot romance with Conor Kennedy isn’t Taylor Swift‘s only focus — she’s also prepping to debut a new single from her upcoming album ‘Red’ on at the MTV VMAs on Sept. 6.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ the first single from ‘Red,’ is already looking like it’ll break sales and download records, and showcasing the next track in front of a massive VMA audience will almost certainly assure its success as well.

‘Red’ will be released in its entirety on Oct. 22, and Swift says that even though the album’s title is simple, it has deep meaning for her.

“All the different emotions on this album, they’re all pretty much about the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships I’ve experienced in the last two years,” she said. “And all those emotions fanning from intense love, intense frustration, intense jealousy, confusion, all of that in my mind, all those emotions are red. There’s nothing in between, there’s nothing beige about those feelings, and so I called my record that.”

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. In addition to the debut of Swift’s new single, you’ll see presenters including Wiz Khalifa, Miley Cyrus, and Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnasts Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross.
