San Antonio turns 300 years old this year and they are celebrating with a full year of events and festivals.

According to Visit San Antonio.com, the 300 year history of San Antonio began in May of 1718 with the founding of San Antonio de Béxar Presidio and Mission San Antonio de Valero, now more commonly known as The Alamo.

The early inhabitants of The Alamo helped lay the foundation of the diverse culture, eclectic art, and stunning innovations that developed the history and life of current day San Antonio.

Now San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the country and the center of the diversity of Texas tourism and cuisine.

It has been the epicenter of a Hemisfair in 1968 which covered a seven month World Fair from April to October of that year. Hemisfair Park and Hemisfair Tower are two of the remnants of an incredible World's Fair that used the slogan "The Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas."

The celebration of San Antonio's 300th birthday will go on all year long and if you want to get in on the action make your plans by checking out the San Antonio 300 website.
