Kermit was one of the only towns in West Texas that had a plastic bag ban, but that is no longer the case.

According to NewsWest 9, after an ultimatum form the state, officials in Kermit have voted to repeal the ban at their meeting last Monday.

The state attorney general's office gave Kermit 60 days to do away with the ban or face a lawsuit stating that it violates sales taxes placed on things like plastic bags.

Kermit put the ban in place to eliminate some of the litter in town.
